Why Midwest Air?

Midwest Air Equipment Company was founded by Sam Scherer in 1923 in Columbus, Ohio. Sam was instrumental in getting Central Vacuum Systems installed in schools all over Ohio. Modern day medicines were not available to cure illness and Sam’s foresight to protect the air we breathe set the tone for our future.

In the 1970’s, Dwight Kidnocker and his wife Mary had ownership of Midwest Air Equipment Company. Dwight’s mechanical engineering background and vast knowledge of air handling systems expanded into lower pressure dust collection systems having high efficient cartridge filtration design.

In 1983, Bill Dunkley joined Midwest Air Equipment Company as a sales representative. Bill quickly expanded sales for the Vortex Regenerative product line, mist collection applications, and replacement filter product lines.

In 1994, Dan Dunkley joined Midwest Air Equipment Company as a Sales Representative.

In 1996, Bill and Sue Dunkley purchased ownership of Midwest Air Equipment Company from Dwight and Mary Kidnocker, who retired to live in Arizona.

Bill became President, Dan Vice President, Sue Secretary-Treasurer, Selena Dunkley Marketing Director. This was the beginning of creating the family business we have today.

In 2012, Stefanie (Dunkley) Jacobs was hired. After working in our company learning many facets of the business, she was promoted to Director of Marketing in 2020.

November 2019 Sue Dunkley, beloved Wife, Mother, Grand and Great Grandmother, passed away after battling cancer for nine years.

This year, 2023, celebrating our 100th Year in Business, we decided to expand our family business by hiring Leigh (Dunkley) Hamilton as Administrative Assistant.

We are all part of a long history to create the most efficient solutions for your needs.

Midwest Air Equipment Company is a professional sales and service organization and a member of MANA (Manufacturers’ Agents National Association) since 1984.
